Who SHE Is

Our Story

At SHE Innovates Employment Solutions, our mission is to reduce resource poverty WHO IS SHE Innovates Employment Solutions, and who do they represent and advocate for?

We are both a Federal and Provincial registered incorporated nonprofit society, currently based out of British Columbia with some collaborations taking place across Alberta. We have currently submitted for charitable status intending to support granting programs in the future, and further expand our reach on a National & Global scale.

While our organization began because of a fiery passion to advocate for workplace health and psychological safety for women in leadership, it has grown exponentially over the past quarter to address further challenges and employment barriers that marginalized and underserved women face.

SHE Innovates Employment Solutions was created by and for women transitioning into new careers and experiences. For women seeking a new environment, a new opportunity, a fresh beginning to re-establish who SHE is as both an individual and as a professional.

With over 14 years of experience working in public health, supporting mental health and addictions, our Founder observed from the Streets of Vancouver, Kamloops, Montreal and across Alberta, that the greatest impact for supporting individuals who faced various adversities around housing, basic needs, substance use challenges, employment and health was when individuals found purpose in their day. When they found a spark that inspired them to develop and grow, it would encourage folks to set goals to achieve. The key most important aspect for success was community because community kept individuals connected while feeling supported and valued. Through transitional career development, we aim to help individuals find that spark, the light that is going to burn bright. Motivating and inspiring folks to do things differently for themselves, and ultimately supporting their overall health and wellbeing for a brighter future.
On a Municipal (Chapter) Scale, Our Transitional Career Development Initiative creates access to low-barrier, supportive work environments. By bridging individuals from marginalized communities into tiered career development pathways, we aim to facilitate pathways to fair-wage employment and help individuals exit poverty with wrap-around supports. We do this through internships, sponsored scholarship programs and entrepreneur development & mentorship support.

On a Provincial Scale, We strive for inclusive work environments that provide meaningful employment opportunities for all individuals, regardless of adversities, abilities, or barriers. Our emphasis is on fostering growth, diversity, and well-being. We bridge programs that can meet basic needs, while building the capacity and skills into our participants for their own career sustainability and independence.

On a National & Global Scale, We offer organizational support to nonprofit leaders across the country while promoting workplace mental health initiatives. Our commitment extends to fostering conversations that benefit self-identified female and non-binary leaders. We advocate for workplace equity and psychological safety worldwide by collaborating with stakeholders and decision-makers to share knowledge and impact, aiming to replicate successful programs and drive policy change in business, global affairs, employment, and innovation.
